tonight's blocks

I made a 15" warm block for the LA Modern Quilt Guild's charity quilt

a 12" Magic Cross block (this week's Modify Tradition block)

a 6" Forest Paths block (last week's MT block)

and I threw in an extra pinwheel... not sure what it's called, it's "Block Five" of the Pinwheel Quilt Along on P.S. I Quilt.

now workout, and then maybe a few minutes of sewing the binding on my quilt... I'm soooo close to being DONE with it!

various bits...

My husband is very Irish, so I decided to put a little bit of effort into decorating for St Pat's day.

Tada! yup, I am NOT a decorator.

But I am proud of that wreath! it's made out of coffee filters, I just glued them onto a circle cut out of a paper bag, and tied that to a wire wreath frame... I taped the shamrocks to the door, and to the wreath frame... I hope to continue changing the wreath to suit the seasons... not sure if Easter will be eggs or rabbits or...

Here's a sneak peek at my latest boy applique project...

the car will be on one pocket, and on the other pocket:

the tow truck!

like this! I ironed on the pieces using wonder under, but I don't trust that stuff at all, so I've already done all the blanket stitching and thread painting on these, and they look super cool... Now I just need to make the garment, but I'm totally a wimp who's afraid of the dark, so I don't want to go out to the garage tonight to find good colored thread for my serger. this can get sewn tomorrow night...

Oh, and here's the finished Dutch flag onesie for baby Oscar... hopefully he likes it...

And today I did my block of the week for the Modify Tradition Quilt Along... pics here...

I'm quilting along...

I decided to participate in the quilt along over at Modify Tradition...
My personal rule for it is that I can only use scrap fabric, but I've decided to use the red from the thriftstore in every block to unify it a teensy bit...
so here're the blocks so far.
Broken Dishes:

Eight Hands Around:

(I messed this one up, obvi, putting just about all of the border pieces the wrong way, but I was soooo frustrated with the piecing, that I didn't even care. Of course, after I finished it, I saw the post with the corrected measurements, and felt dumb, but... oh well... Sad b/c I LOVE the teal floral fabric, and that was my last little bit of it... and the center is a super soft piece of one of C's favorite shirts (that I'm cutting down to make into a shirt for D). Below is the same block, turned 90 degrees)

And here's a corrected Eight Hands Around.
I used the red from the thrift store, and a little bit of white scrap, and the chili peppers were scraps from making the aprons for my aunts...

I'm not a chilipepper person, but I really really love the way this block looks.
like, a lot.
